In Miskolc, there is a place where cobblestone streets lead to centuries-old wine cellars, and every sip of wine tells a story from the past. This place is Avas, and you can discover its unique atmosphere on our special guided tour.
The walking tour starts at the Tourinform Office and takes you through the city centre, passing the lively Szinva Terrace and the historic Miskolc National Theatre, where you will hear a fascinating love story that once unfolded within its walls. After just a few minutes' walk, we leave the bustle of the city behind and arrive in the peaceful surroundings of the charming Avas Wine Cellars, where you will experience a completely different side of Miskolc.
Narrow streets, historic press houses, and a truly unique atmosphere await you along the Avas Cellar Row, home to nearly 800 wine cellars that preserve the memory of Miskolc's rich winemaking and wine trading heritage. In what was once the city's entertainment district, you can follow in the footsteps of renowned Hungarian writers such as Zsigmond Móricz and Ferenc Móra, while discovering the secret romantic encounters once witnessed by the cellar walls.
